TAA IMAC October 2011

The Toowoomba IMAC was held at TAA on the 15/16 October 2011. Entries were a little low with only 12 competitors listed. Even with the low numbers a great and relaxing weekend was had by all who attended. The TAA members had prepared the field perfectly ready for the competition. A small number showed up on Friday for the much needed practice. Campers also showed up and set up their camps. Unfortunately Saturday morning dawned with a big storm which dumped around 30mm of rain on the field. This played havoc with the campers with some shade shelters lost. The nature of the field meant all was good apart from the driveway being a little muddy. The comp got off to a great start with Amber flying knife edge through the trees and surviving to land the plane, with one wing tip a little short one end. Saturday moved along with ease and by days end we had all achived 3 double sequence rounds. Dinner Saturday night was also well attended and a good time had by all. Sunday dawned perfect with light winds and clear skies. With pilot briefs completed the Unknowns rounds were started. We had a lot of pilots moved up in classes so this was all new to them. By the weekends end we got through 5 double sequences and 1 unknown a great effort by all. A big thanks must go out to the TAA members who worked tirelessly keeping the food and drinks up to us all weekend. The burgers were great and that breakfast on Sunday was HUGE. To the members who prepared the field as well a job well done. We look forward to coming back to TAA in 2012. Michael Paul ASAA. Qld State Rep. TAA Field Relocation Heli Fun Fly March 2011.

TAA Field Relocation Heli Fun Fly, March 2011. The TAA Helicopter FunFly was held to support Toowoomba Aeromodellers Association raise funds for the relocation of our club and facilities. Over the weekend there were fantastic displays of helicopters doing all styles of flying, from 3D aerobatics to just general flying around. Most of Saturday was just sitting around, having a chat and hoping for the rain to go away, unfortunately, this did not prevail with only 4 flights all day. Sunday morning was looking better, rain had stopped and some blue sky was starting to be seen through the clouds which meant pilots got out and had a fantastic morning of which many flights were had, but upon the approach of dark storm clouds, everyone rushed to get their helicopters and gear inside and this unfortunately this was where the weekend ended, everyone packed up. The pilots draw was drawn and everyone left with at least 1 prize. Thanks to all TAA helpers who volunteered on the day, next year the weather will be better and it will be another fantastic weekend. TAA Summer Shootout February 2011

TAA hosted the first IMAC comp for 2011 and Qld. It was attended by 23 registered pilots with 3 classes flown, being Basic,Sportsman,Intremediate. Thjs was my first comp as the Qld and Nt State CD for the ASAA. Saturday dawned with rain but cleared to a beautiful day heading to a very hot day with light winds. We had 4 new comers to Basic who all performed well. Dinner was held at The Federal Hotel which once again was a great night Sunday dawned even better than Saturday but was hotter again. We struggled to keep the drinks up. I would like to thank TAA for the use of their field which was a picture and all their facilities, and I would also like to thank thee members who showed up to cook and serve drinks both days. This was the 6th ASAA IMAC event hosted by TAA and Luke Cullen as Contest Director (CD). Although not the largest IMAC Luke has (CD) at TAA but it was the most successful. The weather was not looking very promising leading up to the weekend; however the weather god was looking after us with only a short 10 minute delay on the Saturday for a passing shower. Every competitor (28) walked away with a prize from the pilot draw valued at over $1200. Thank you very much to the sponsors Wings over the Downs, Desert Aircraft Australia, J & E plane covers and Aero Vinyl. Also a special thanks to the catering crew led by Glenn Fitzsimons and the cook Greg Gersch and helpers Simon, Phil, Steve, Peter N, Mark M, Chris and Dan, for the great food over the weekend.
